PlasticsCalc is a free, static reference site for people who need a clear first-pass calculation before moving to supplier data, process validation, or engineering review.

What the site covers

The initial focus is injection molding: machine sizing, shot planning, cooling and cycle estimates, output, material use, and basic costing. The structure can later support materials, extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming, and quality tools without diluting the injection molding focus.

Who it is for

Engineers, molders, technicians, estimators, buyers, students, and project teams can use the tools to organize assumptions and compare scenarios. The site does not provide accounts, paid calculations, supplier quotations, or production approvals.

How calculations are maintained

Each calculator publishes its formula, unit basis, worked example, input dependency, and boundary of use. The site favors manufacturer, material-supplier, association, and engineering references; a grade, geometry, or machine dependency is shown as an input requirement rather than presented as a universal value.

Arithmetic tools are checked against their displayed examples. Where an estimate feeds a press, tooling, quality, or commercial decision, the page identifies the next cross-check instead of claiming a production approval.

What an estimate is not

A calculator result is not a machine specification, mold design release, resin recommendation, safety decision, or guaranteed cost. Critical decisions should be checked against the relevant machine documentation, material data sheet, validated process, simulation, and trial results.

Corrections and scope

Tools and guides are added only for a distinct process question; near-duplicate pages are avoided. Formula corrections and source-based improvements are recorded in the project handover, and visitors can send a traceable correction through the Contact page.

PlasticsCalc does not claim machine-maker certification, material qualification, or production-trial validation. It is a transparent first-pass reference intended to make the next engineering check clearer.

For a calculation input, PlasticsCalc prefers the relevant machine manufacturer, exact-grade material supplier data, standards body or industry association, then established engineering references. A generic rule of thumb is kept as a stated estimate; it is not promoted to grade-specific or validated production data.

When a formula, source, unit, or boundary needs correction, send the page URL, affected input, source, and condition through Contact. The site records source-based changes in its project handover and does not represent a correction as machine, material, or process approval.
