Scientific Molding Process Validation Workflow

Plan a controlled sequence from fill behavior through packing, repeatability and documented release evidence.

Start with controlled evidence

Stabilize material handling, melt and mold temperature, shot size, transfer position, cooling and machine condition before changing the study variable. Record plastic pressure rather than assuming two machines report equivalent hydraulic values.

A practical sequence

  1. Screen relative viscosity across controlled velocity steps.
  2. Confirm cavity fill balance with labeled short shots.
  3. Localize progressive pressure demand.
  4. Run a hold-time versus weight gate-seal study.
  5. Collect consecutive weights to quantify short-term repeatability.
  6. Confirm dimensions, appearance and customer requirements with an approved sampling plan.

Common failure modes

Changing more than one variable, mixing cavity IDs, using normal packed parts for a fill-balance study, reporting hydraulic pressure as plastic pressure, and treating a screening percentage as a universal acceptance limit all destroy traceability.
